Poor drainage in hostels

Moi university students have complained about lack of a proper drainage systems in the hostels for a long time due to poor drainage infrastructure.

Some hostels in Moi university especially hostel K and L have major problems in relation to drainage, the drainage systems from the washrooms is so poor that all the unclean water from the hostels finds its way on some of the streets used by students in the university. The mostly affected is a small road that leads to the C houses that is just beside hostel K.

Students residing in the C houses have stated that the filthy water from the hostels fill the road making the it impassable as the water makes the road muddy and it addition the water is really smelly. If the condition of the water on the road is not taken care of, its going to result in a serious setback in Moi university trying to improve hygiene and sanitation in the hostels.

The students have urged the administration in conjunction with the hostels and accommodation management of moi university to repair the faults in the drainage systems to curb the drainage problem to avoid cases of Malaria and outbreaks of waterborne diseases.
